How to participate

The list of plants and animals that will be considered at the committee’s next meeting is posted (when available) in the Upcoming Species Assessments section of this website. You are welcome to submit written information on the species being assessed and/or to observe the species assessment discussions at the meeting virtually or in person. Each meeting includes an open session to allow interested stakeholders and members of the public to provide presentations on the species that will be assessed by the committee.

If you are interested in participating in any of the ways listed above, please contact COSSAROSecretariat@ontario.ca. To submit written information on a species, you will need to submit a completed Form for Submitting Community Knowledge to COSSARO. To attend a meeting as an observer, you will need to submit a completed Observer Form (available on request). If you are interested in making a presentation during the open session of the meeting, you will need to provide a copy of your presentation with your request.

Once the committee’s decisions from each meeting have been presented to the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks they are posted on this page. The reports contain the conclusions of the assessment meetings, which includes the classification of each species assessed and a summary of the rationales for the decision.
